I do not understand. The demonic presence which was afflicting a particular ward in Whittington Hospital has vanished without a trace. It leaves me uneasy — the last two times I cast that demon out of a victim, it managed to remain within the hospital grounds, ready to hunt for a new body to possess. And yet since the possession and successful exorcism of the third boy, Robin, there has been no new activity.
Where has it gone? Some of the ancient texts refer to the power of the number 3. Perhaps, by having exorcised that demon three times, it no longer has the power to walk amongst the living.
But there is another alternative — the demon may have successfully possessed someone. It seems unlikely, though: there were no “seizures” of any sort, and I made sure to test each patient in the ward by touching them with a cross.
Perhaps it is simply lying in wait for a better victim. I shall continue my rounds at the hospital for now, just to be sure.
